Are you a highly organized, detail-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Smith Industries is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Assistant to join our team. This is a high-volume, fast-moving role, we need someone who hits the ground running and brings a strong work ethic, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities without missing a beat.


Responsibilities
  •  Input and manage data for Quality Assurance and maintain accurate electronic and manual filing systems 
  • Register code vessels with The National Board through our AIW/3rd party inspection company 
  •  Create and maintain Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF QMS documentation for each product we manufacture 
  •  Learn and navigate internal software systems (e.g., SharePoint or other electronic systems) • Support supervisors and managers in meeting deadlines with accuracy and timeliness • Maintain consistent communication with leadership, proactively reporting issues or changes 
  • Manage and organize all project quality documents, including inspection records, test records, material certifications, and as-built packages to meet contract and client requirements for delivery. 
  • Coordinate document submittals and track approval status with clients and third-party inspectors
  • Provide occasional backup support for customer service and receptionist functions, as needed, without interfering with core QA duties 
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements, incident reporting, and stop-work authority when safety protocols cannot be met

Experience
• 1–2 years of experience in a Quality Assurance, administrative, or compliance role preferred 
• Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel is required. Familiarity with AI technology usage is a plus. 
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
 • Highly organized with strong time management skills and a professional attitude
• Basic knowledge of ASME and API codes is a plus
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule
• A true team player with a high level of dedication, willingness to learn, reliability, and honesty
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification preferred
